Yes, I am currently an in-network provider for First Choice Health Network (FCHN) (which includes Kaiser PPO).
I also am in-network through a 3rd party biller named ‘Headway’ with certain Premera, Regence, Aetna, Oscar Health, United Healthcare, Oxford, and Cigna Plans. (Unfortunately, this does not include WA Apple Health Plans)
I am out-of-network provider for all other insurance carriers, however, most health insurance plans will reimburse clients for out-of-network claims.
I accept Credit, Debit, FSA and HSA cards.

Headway is a third party that I utilize for most of my insurance billing. If your insurance is: Premera, Regence, Aetna, Oscar Health, United Healthcare, Oxford, or Cigna.
You will need to set up an account with them (quick, free, and easy process— requires basic demographic information, insurance information, credit/debit card information, and signing two forms). I will send you a welcome email from Headway as well as my own practice documents through Simple Practice if we chose to work together.
Headway will manage all payment and insurance queries for those companies.
I am considered an independent (1099) contractor with Headway.

Yes, you will need to have a credit, debit, FSA or HSA card on file for billing prior to beginning treatment.
All cards are auto-drafted between 12am -2am following the scheduled appointment.
Any transaction that does not go through during the automated billing process is due within 48 hours.
If you are wanting to submit for health insurance reimbursement, you will still be responsible for paying for each session in full and having a card on file.
-
For each appointment you will be emailed a secure link to SimplePractice’s Telehealth Service.
You will click on the Telehealth link from your desktop or laptop to open a browser with the prompt to check in. If you are connecting on smartphone, you will need to download the Telehealth by SimplePractice app.
You can open the browser at anytime; however, you can only join the session 10 minutes before your scheduled time.
If I do not see you in session after 3 minutes, I will call you. At that time, we can then switch to a phone session or a secure Google Meeting. If connectivity becomes an ongoing issue we will discuss utilizing Google Meet more permanently. Unfortunately, I do not offer solely phone sessions at this time.
Equipment needed for Telehealth:

Before scheduling an intake appointment, I offer a free 15 minute consultation call to all potential new clients.
This call is a chance for us to get to know each other to determine fit, for you to ask any questions you may have, and to make sure your needs are within my scope of practice.
What you can expect:
I will ask if you have any questions for me and for you to tell me a little about why you are seeking therapy.
This is your time to interview me, ask me any questions you have about my therapeutic approach, session style, experience, rates, availability, etc.
This is a no pressure and no obligation time for you to determine if this may be a good fit.
If you wish to move forward and work together, we will schedule an intake appointment. I can schedule your intake during our consult call.
If you are still interviewing other therapists or have not yet decided, feel free to email or call/text me anytime following the consultation to schedule an intake appointment.
If I feel your needs are out of my scope of practice, I will offer to attempt to reach out to my network to see if there may be a better fit available for you.

Prior to your intake, I will set you up in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) that I use, called SimplePractice. SimplePractice will send you an email to log into their secure site where you will enter your demographic information, payment information, complete any forms, and review and sign documents/consents sent.
You will need to complete all pending items prior to our appointment, as I need your signed consent to begin treatment. If you have any questions, or are not able to complete your intake documentation prior to our appointment, please reach out, and we can problem solve/reschedule as needed.
We will spend up to 75 minutes completing what is called a BioPsychoSocial Assessment. This type of assessment looks at your Biological (physical health, substance use, physiological reactions, etc.), Psychological (symptoms, beliefs/expectations, preferences, coping skills, etc.), and Social factors (socioeconomic status, racial/cultural norms, social/family/relationship support/dynamics, etc.). We will also explore what your possible goals are (this is called Treatment Planning), and discuss possible diagnoses.
Depending on your symptoms/history/past trauma/etc. these assessments can be emotionally draining. I encourage you to set aside some time, following the assessment, to have a safe space to land where you can engage in some self care.

Typically the first 2 or 3 sessions following Intake are a little awkward as we build a therapeutic relationship. This is normal, as therapy does not have the same back and forth relational pattern as typical interpersonal relationships. And trust takes time to build. The primary goal the first few sessions is building a safe space, especially if this is your first time in therapy. This will look different for everyone, my typical approach is to keep these session “lighter” by tackling smaller goals, providing psychoeducational materials, and discussing coping strategies.
I will meet you where you are at in addressing your goals. Depending on your needs and your preferences, I will take an active or passive role throughout the session. Active roles can involve ‘coaching’ (sharing observations/ feedback/ supporting/ challenging/ offering suggestions/ providing homework or reading). Passive roles entail acting as more of a ‘sound board’ providing a safe-container and space for you to share your story.
My hope is that my clients feel comfortable enough to let me know if we need to change direction, approach, etc., or even find a better fit.

Sometimes therapy comes to a natural end, sometimes it ends abruptly. There is no way to know when you are “done” with therapy, it’s all individualized. You can stop therapy at any time and for any reason.
If I do not hear from you for over 3 weeks, unless other arrangements have been made in advance (agreed to monthly appointments, etc.), for legal and ethical reasons, I will close your file and consider the professional relationship discontinued. If you have risk factors that I am concerned about, I may reach out to your emergency contact to inquire about your safety.
If previously terminated treatment and wish to restart services, please reach out by email.

That is perfectly fine! Not every therapist and every client get along. It’s important to find someone that you feel supports you, and can provide a safe place for you to engage in this work. You always have the right to request a change in the treatment process or to refuse or terminate treatment. It is important that our sessions meet your needs. If you believe you are not being helped, please let me know so that we can work through the difficulty together. If we are unable to do so I will, to the best of my ability, assist you in finding another therapist.
